I'm at Businessweek's Media Summit sitting in the overflow room where Jason's image is being simulcast bigger than life.
Paraphrasing Jason with great liberty: "Disruption is when you [big media company] have so narrowly defined your business that someone else comes along and does what you should have been doing anyway, taking away the business that should have been yours.
"MySpace, YouTube, Google are all businesses that emerged in the past 5-10 years, doing what big media should have been doing all along and who are still sitting on their hands defending their narrow turf and letting others eat their lunch."
The solution?: more investment in emerging digital media startups to get experience and gain insights.
Jason, couldn't agree more.
